As you all know, working abroad, being an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) is not easy. It takes a lot of courage, sacrifices, and determination to survive each day knowing that you’re alone and away from your family. Like any other OFWs, one chose to become a seaman to provide a better life for their family.
At the beginning of the video, some seamen were asked if how true it is that being a seaman is easy? While some of them said that it’s easy so long as you do your job properly, most of them said that it’s not. The reason being away from the family and having to live in the ship with no one to talk to.
Expresses their sacrifices through a song
A group of seamen creatively express the difficulty of being a seaman through a song. In their song, they described how hard it is to work on a ship. They talked about the danger of encountering pirates and the battle they fight each day each day to fight off the loneliness they felt being away to their loved ones.
How most people got it wrong, where they think that it’s easy to be a seaman. It is true that sometimes when they got home they act like they have lots of money, they said. But it is their own way to make up of the times that they’re away from their family.
All in all the song not only describes the difficulties of being a seaman but could be applied to all OFWs as well. One could not measure the sacrifices these people made for the sake of bringing their family a better future.
Kudos to all the brave seaman and OFWs out there, who undoubtedly put their family first before themselves! Your sacrifices are an inspiration to everyone!
