“Two months na po kaming walang sahod, pati food allowance wala rin po,” Plea of 34 OFWs Affected by Covid19 Pandemic Heard By The Philippine Gov’t Jeddah

A total of thirty-four overseas Filipino workers in Jeddah are asking help to be repatriated as they have not received any help from their company much less to their agency amidst the country’s lockdown due to coronavirus COVID19 pandemic.

According to one of the OFWs, they are a worker of Papa John’s Pizza and it’s been two months that they have not received any help from their company. They did not receive their salary even food allowance was not provided. They also reported the incident and had asked help from their recruitment agency, Mahara Human Resources but they kept telling them to wait.

“Gusto lang po naming masolusyonan ang sahod namin o ang food allowance dahil walang wala na po talaga kami. Ilang beses na po kaming tumatawag sa Mahara pero wala pong sumasagot halos pinabayaan na po kaming lahat. Sana po matugunan nyo ang aming panawagan sa lalong madaling panahon.”

The group of OFWs is hoping to get help from their agency here in the Philippines, Staffhouse International, and their counter agency in Saudi Arabia, Mahara Human Resources.

They also call on help from all the Philippine Government bodies for OFWs especially in POLO Jeddah, DFA, and OWWA.

Meanwhile, one netizen commented that Papa John is still a start-up company and would not survive the crisis brought by COVID19 and advise them to go home immediately if they already got their salary.

“Ang papajohn pizza Is a small pizza chain ,, at kakasimula lang yan, they can’t survive in this pandemic,, pag nakuha nyo ang sahod nyo umuwi na kayo kasi Di natin alam kng hanggang kaylan ang virus na ito at babalik sa total lockdown ang ksa after ramadan as We see still high parin ang new cases every day , salamat.”

UPDATE:
The Philippine Government bodies in JEDDAH saw the video and did not turn a blind eye to the OFWs. They immediately sent them food supplies. They also received the 10,000 cash assistance from DOLE-AKAP.

Maraming salamat po polo jeddah..
