We all know that the Philippine economy can’t sustain to every Filipino needs. It also has a very limited chance for Filipinos who don’t have a degree to find work that pays big. The reason for most Filipinos to choose to gamble working abroad. In fact, even Filipino professionals choose to work abroad because the salary here in the Philippines is not enough to sustain their big dreams for their family.
Although we salute these desire of the Filipinos who are willing to gamble their lives abroad for their families, sadly, some Filipinos see it as a chance to use this desire at their own advantage and fool these Filipinos. The same with these human traffickers of OFWs arrested in Cebu.
OFWs Human Traffickers
Three Filipinos suspect for human trafficking and illegal recruitment were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
This happened Tuesday morning when seven passengers suspected for illegal recruits were offloaded from their plane which is bound for Taiwan. These passengers were handed to Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking-Mactan Cebu International Airport (IACAT-MCIA) and Bureau of Immigration Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
Based on the authorities investigation, four of the suspected illegal recruits were victims of human trafficking.
Tomas Enrile, NBI-7 Director said that the victims positively named their recruiters, siblings Rea Parejas Casas, 32, and Kevin Parejas, 23, from Marikina City; and Maricris Ria Delgado, 25, from Antipolo City.
The victims also admitted that they were bound to Dubai via Taiwan to work.
The three suspects were not authorized to hire and deploy overseas workers as per The Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA).
