As we all know, not only those families who belong to the poor class are affected by the COVID19 pandemic. In fact, almost all sectors of the countries in the whole world, be it economy, industry, community, society, etc., are affected by COVID19. Overseas Filipino workers are also not immune to it. We are very aware that most of them are being dispatched from their work or now in ‘No Work, No Pay’ situation.
So it is understandable if most OFWs are not able to provide for their families at this time much more give help to others.
However, despite being in a difficult situation, these OFWs along with their families in the Philippines did not hesitate in reaching out to fellow Filipinos and give help.
P1,000 cash for each family
In ABS-CBN’s report, the family of the OFWs abroad decided to extend help to their ka Barangays. Many families in Barangay 42, Apaya Laoag City were given P1,000 each.
The distributed money is from cousins who are working in America, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. It was said that the OFWs sent money to their family and they decided to distribute it to their ka Barangays as their way of giving help.
More than fifty-eight (58) lucky families were given the money.
