Philippines– In a very sorrowful situation, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) working in Jazan, Jeddah was shot dead after allegedly killing his Pakistani co-worker and Saudi national manager.
The Pakistani victim is identified as Arbab Ahmed and the Saudi manager is Naseebi, aged 56.
The name of the OFW was withheld pending notification of his family.
The incident happened at Farasan Island unit of Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), 50 kilometers offshore from the southern city of Jizan.
According to the report of Consulate General in Jeddah, the OFW chased his Pakistani co-worker with a knife and fire extinguisher after an argument between the two at their accommodation.
The Pakistani co-worker then ran to the nearest SEC office and tried to hide at their Manager Naseebi’s office. The manager tried to calm down the OFW but the worker stabbed him to his chest and throat which caused his death.
Several workers were also reportedly wounded when the OFW released the fire extinguisher when they tried to intervene and overpower him.
Seeing the uncontrollable situation, the responder security guard and a subcontractor of the Saudi Electrical Company shot the OFW.
The OFW was rushed to the Island hospital but succumbed to his death because of a fatal gunshot wound.
In their Twitter account, SEC Saudi Electrical Company offered condolences to the bereaved family of the manager and the workers.
The reason for OFW rage
It was said that the OFW was fired out from his work, the reason for his rage. However, this information is not yet confirmed as The Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia had not released a statement regarding the incident yet.
A group from the Philippine Consulate has been sent to Jazan, Jeddah to investigate the incident and help in repatriating the Filipino’s remains.
