Yes, Overseas Filipino workers are indeed our modern heroes. However, you know what’s sad about being a hero? They often are taken for granted and neglected when the time comes that they are the ones in need. And this is true to most of our OFWs abroad.

9 months and still in the hospital
Elsa Mapanao Comilang, 45, an Overseas Filipino domestic worker in Jeddah, from Cotabato, Mindanao has been in the EIC hospital in Jeddah for nine months. According to the source, Comilang suffered from a stroke and has heart disease.
Her husband got sick as well as their youngest children, the reason for the family not able to ask help. As much as they wanted to go to Manila to ask for help, they can’t because they have no money-fare going there.
