It’s true that being an OFW is a very enticing opportunity as it lets you earn money easier than here in the Philippines. However, you must not see the ‘income’ alone. Be open as well to the things that could possibly happen to you while working abroad.
So that when things go wrong, you’re prepared mentally and emotionally. Because really, working abroad means working alone. You’re far away from family surrounded with strangers, so you only have yourself to depend on. You have to be strong and prepared emotionally, mentally, and spiritually if you want to be an OFW. Because, if you’ll come abroad unprepared, then your weak self will be your own enemy. The same as to what happened to this OFW.
Afraid and restless
An OFW was found in the street crying and laughing alone. It was not clear in the video as to what happened to the OFW, but it seems like she ran away and was afraid of something or someone.
The video taker only managed to asks where she’s from as the OFW is very afraid that she can’t talk properly. The OFW is from Tampakan, South Cotabato, working as a domestic helper in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
What you see is not always what you get
Working abroad may be enticing to you and may look easy, but not all you see is what you get. You may see them happy and having a good life and feel envy of their lives. However, we don’t really know what’s behind those happy smiles, do we?
Being an OFW is not easy. It takes a lot of courage and sacrifices, so before dreaming of being an OFW, asks yourself these questions first: Are you ready for the things that could happen to you abroad? Are you prepared?
The OFW is now safe and with her family in the Philippines.
