Former OFW Failed To Go Back To South Korea, Takes Own Life

A former OFW took his own life after he failed in going back to South Korea again.

Robert Agot, 29, resident of Lasam Cagayan and now staying in Echague for the meantime, suffered depression and committed suicide after he failed in going back to South Korea again. Agot was working as help in poultry at San Antonio Minit, Echage, Isabela when he committed the act.

According to deputy chief of police of Echague Police Station, PCapt Geriyell Frogoso, based on their investigation, the former OFW, Agot, ended his life due to depression.

It was also found in the investigation that Agot served as a bread-winner to the family and is financially supporting his sibling to go to school. To be able to continue supporting his sibling, Agot aims to go back to South Korea again to work. However, his application was denied. The reason for him to feel depressed.

PCapt Frogoso, also mentioned that the forme OFW attempted to commit suicide on Monday, September 4 around 3 pm. However, he did not succeed as relatives were able to stop him. It was by morning around 10 am that they found his dead body, hanging behind a building.

“Base narin po sa mga text messages ng mga pinsan nya tsaka mga kamag-anak nya, meron na nga pong ganung senaryo..binibgyan nga po sya ng adivce pero talagang gulong-gulo na daw talaga yung isipan nya po.”
