Filipina Arrested Again For Illegal Recruitment

A Filipina was arrested again over the same case, illegal recruitment.

She was arrested lat February 2019 and arrested again on August 2019 for doing the same offense, this time, with another individual. According to the report, Carissa Arqueda will offer jobs for Filipinos to Canada but will immediately leave the applicant once she receives money.

Despite being arrested last time and having no license to recruit individuals to Canada, Arqueda continued it and again recruited applicants. However, she denied all the allegations and said that she has a travel agency. She also denied the claim that she offered the applicants jobs in Canada. She was also accused of wearing a wig so that she could not be recognized by her victims.

Applicant strongly opposed her claim

One of the applicants that Arqueda managed to fool strongly denies her claim of being legit.

Belen testified that she loaned P150,000 and gave it to Arqueda as an application fee for a caregiver job in Vancouver, Canada, offered to her by Arqueda.

“Nahihiya kayo ngayon. Bakit hindi kayo nahiya noon nung niloloko niyo kami. Ang dami namin. Ang dali niyo lang maghanap ng pera, tanggap lang ng tanggap. Mag bana tnaman kayo ng buto,” says Belen.

Arqueda along with her accomplice were sent to prison and charged estafa and illegal recruitment.

Atty. Janet Francisco, Chief NBI AHTRAD reminded everyone that they should check the credibility of any recruiters or recruitment agencies offering jobs abroad first before they fully trust them with their money.

“Bago magbigay ng pera sa kanino man nanagpapanggap na kaya silang paalisin o bigyan ng trabaho sa ibang bansa, dapat mag-verify muna sila sa POEA,” says Atty. Janet Francisco, Chief NBI AHTRAD.
