An employer did not allow Pinay domestic worker to go home even if she’s sick.
In a video and series of pictures posted by Monawara Bhea Peda in OFW KAMI sa GITNANG SILANGAN (KAPIT-BISIG) ll Facebook page, she asked help for her cousin who works as a domestic worker in Saudi Arabia.
According to Peda, her cousin was confined in the hospital for five days. But when her employer visited her, she only looked at her and not even asked how she is. Added that the employer refused to let her cousin go home and told her that she should pay first all of the expenses they spent for her before they let her go home. The OFW has been working in the household of her employer for one year.
In the video posted by Peda, her cousin is seen crying for help. According to her, the doctor told her that they found a cyst on the other side of her operation. Added that she might be operated again, the reason for the OFW to want to go home. However, as mentioned, her employer won’t let her go, so the OFW is pleading for help for her current condition.
The OFW is identified as Fatma Sandato Sumilalao from Pikit Cotabato. The name of her agency is Talentsphere Inc. Meanwhile, her employer’s name is Bedour Maowadh Salama Aljuhani. A residence in King Fahad Road Al-Mara, Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
A netizen posted a photo of her in the POLO office saying that the Philippine Overseas Labor Office POLO and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration OWWA are already working on her case and arranging everything for her flight home.
