Dubai OFW Instant Millionaire Declared As Best Nanny

It is a difficult job to become a domestic helper. For a family or a single employer, it requires you to perform various household chores, from cleaning the house and the yard, caring for children and the elderly, laundry, ironing, caring for and walking the pets, cooking, and maintaining the entire house. What makes this even tougher is the reality of working with foreign employers in a foreign land. But what if your employers consider you as a family?

Two months ago, the news about a UAE Filipina OFW winning P 1M from a contest made headlines and her story inspired many OFWs, especially domestic helpers. Social media still relishes her success, and many netizens still talk about it because it is a wonderful opportunity to be chosen as the best in any contest, especially there are many contestants.

Rosie Villa, who is from Barotac, Nuevo, Iloilo, is an instant millionaire. In an interview with ABS-CBN, she said that at a very young age she learned to do all kinds of household chores, which had become her essential skills in working as a domestic helper.

She learned the rough way. She worked in her province’s hotel, got pregnant, and was abandoned by her partner-in-living. She soon thought about working as a domestic helper overseas. It was a difficult call for her as it meant leaving her child behind, but she’s more confident that it would mean a better future for her family to work abroad away from her child.

Villa went to Dubai in 2013 and worked with her kind Argentinian-American employers, who consider her a family, as a domestic helper. She is dutiful to them and they were amazed at how well she takes care of her kids and how dedicated she is to her job. Her female employer secretly nominated her for a “Best Nanny Contest,” an online search for the best nanny in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), because of her dedication to her job and to do it all her best.

On December 16, 2018, when she was selected as the’ Best Nanny’ in the UAE, Villa was surprised. She defeated 41 other nannies, winning 700,000 dirhams, or P1M. Her employers conveyed their confidence that she would win because they knew she deserved it. After all, she was the best nanny who worked all hours of the day and beyond, according to her.

Villa emphasized that she’ll be not going to retire from working as a domestic helper because she still enjoys working for her employers and she does the job for her loved ones most especially. She said that family love always comes first.
