Accidents happen in the blink of an eye. This is how Jelyn G. Penton, an OFW in Abu Dhabi described what she experienced last August 8, 2018.
Her Tragic Story
At 6:20 P.M. on that date, Jelyn together with her lady employer, the twins, and co-nanny Jing (also a Filipina) went out from their home in Ghayathi Ruwais City. They were going to Liwa Farm. Her employer whom she called Madam was driving the car while she and Jing took care of the twins they held each on their arms. The car was full of luggage, so they did not take the car seats for the kids.
After the kids fell asleep in their arms, she and Jing fell asleep, too.
Jen was awakened when she heard a loud crash. Realizing that it was their car, she was so shocked and afraid. She shouted with fear when the vehicle suddenly made a zigzag motion along the road. Then, the car rolled down. After several turns, she saw one of the twins being thrown out of the car. Her co-nanny who was still fast asleep was also thrown out after a few turns. Then, it was her turn to be thrown outside the vehicle. She was still holding the other child. She had no idea where she went out. Finally, Jen saw her Madam went out from the car through the windshield.
All of a sudden, she saw the car on fire and heard a loud sound.
The Horrifying Moments
Jen believed that an angel saved her and led her away from the car. She was bleeding because of wounds in her hands and right leg, but she felt strong. She looked around for her companions. There were people at the scene of the accident. She cried and asked for help.
She heard someone said –
“..I AM SORRY WE CANNOT HELP YOU. WE WILL HAVE A PROBLEM IF WE HELP YOU..”
Jen was hysterical.
“ OH MY GOD WHY YOU CANT HELP ME? PLEASE HELP ME ..PLEASE….HUHUHUHU, PLEASE HELP US!!! PLEASE BRING US TO THE HOSPITAL. PLEASE..”
She stood up while holding the hand of the other twin. Lying near the car was the other nanny who was already awake. Jing was also bleeding and having difficulty breathing. She told her to be strong and think about her family in the Philippines. While she was trying to move Jing away from the car, two men helped her.
She searched for the other child who was crying but alive. She heard a cell phone ringing. It was her employer’s phone, so she answered it and asked help, but because she didn’t know their location, she asked the Pakistani who helped her took care of the other child to explain it for her.
She returned near the car where her Madam was lying. Her lady employer was asking for her children. She told her that they were okay. When she saw that the car was ready to explode, she immediately retrieved their luggage. Then, the vehicle exploded and went into flames.
The Terrifying Ordeal Is Over
Using her employer’s phone, Jen called her male employer. After an hour, he came together with the police and an ambulance. They were given medical assistance in Ghayathi Hospital.
The Second Life
Jen’s presence of mind and bravery during the tragic moment kept everyone alive and safe. She was also very grateful for being alive.
“THANK YOU, GOD, FOR GIVING ME A SECOND LIFE.”
